Gearboxes, speed changers, and what has replaced them
We run a complete array of mechanical gearbox and speed-changing repair services, covering VariDrives, speed increasers, speed reducers, and clutches. A lot of plant and shop equipment still runs on these mechanical devices, and they still need the same things a motor does: seals and bearings replaced, gearing inspected, and a unit rebuilt rather than scrapped when it starts to wear. We service them alongside the motors that drive them, so a gearbox does not have to be pulled and shipped to a separate shop while the motor sits waiting.
Where variable frequency drives fit
Many of these mechanical speed-changing devices have been replaced with variable frequency drives, although there are still plenty in operation and we keep servicing both. For plants making that move, or adding a VFD alongside existing mechanical gearing, we handle application, installation, and start-up. If a VFD is the better fit for a given piece of equipment, we can walk through that with you rather than defaulting to a straight mechanical rebuild.

One shop for the gearbox and the motor behind it
A gearbox rarely fails in isolation from the motor turning it, and treating them as two separate repairs usually means two separate trips off the plant floor. Because we already rewind and rebuild AC and DC motors from fractional horsepower up to 1000 HP, a gearbox or speed changer that comes in with its motor gets looked at as one job, not handed off to a subcontractor for the mechanical half.
That same shop also stocks the drives that increasingly sit alongside or in place of a mechanical speed changer, so a VFD application and start-up can happen without a second vendor being brought in for that part of the job either.
